Oluwaseun here, the founder of Mariblock.
It's unusual for us to email you multiple times in a week. I'm doing that today because it is important. So please read this personal note from me.
Yesterday, I had a chat with a builder working on a really promising RWA project. I’d been trying to connect with him for over two weeks when someone tipped us to a piece of big news about them. As is always the case with us, I wanted to speak with him to get the facts right. But I noticed he was reluctant to engage.
We finally spoke yesterday. He asked that we have a conversation in another two months because they’ve been told to keep a low profile for now. That is understandable.
But the chat reinforced something I have noticed over the past two years running Mariblock: there’s a trust problem between the media and builders. I suspect that stems from the experiences you’ve had with “Web2” media. So there’s the perception that the media is your adversary — that we’re out to get you.
Nothing could be further from the truth for us. In just over a week, Mariblock will be two years old. I started Mariblock because I believe blockchain and digital assets could be truly revolutionary for Africa. I also believe that we need a steady flow of high-quality information (analysis, research and data) to help the industry grow.
We’ve made it our responsibility to plug that information gap at scale. But we need you.
That’s why we are hosting a virtual call tagged “Builders 👷🏾 x 📰 Media” tomorrow. I invite you to join us tomorrow by 5 PM (WAT). We want you to know us and what we stand for and we want to learn from you how best to serve the industry.

If you need further convincing, I’ll share this with you.
I moderated a roundtable consisting of global investors and projects — all interested in Africa — last year. I asked, “Why do you invest so little in Africa?” One of them told me they don’t have visibility of who is building. I went away thinking “We really need to make this information thing work.”
I’ll say this again. Mariblock is an industry ally — not an adversary.

See you tomorrow!
Cheer,
