MiniPay now available as a standalone app on iOS devices
The stablecoin wallet app wants to expand access to more users globally
Stablecoin wallet platform built by the website browser firm Opera, MiniPay, is now available as a standalone application on android and iOS devices.
The company believes that this move will expand its reach to more users beyond the African continent.
The details
- In a press release shared with Mariblock, the MiniPay team announced that it has signed up eight million users since it launched initially as an integration on the Opera Mini browser.
- Of that total, one million users joined the stablecoin payments platform after it launched as a standalone Android app in October.
- Launched in Nigeria in 2023, the MiniPay wallet is a self-custodial dollar stablecoin wallet built on the Celo blockchain.
- Its design at the time enabled wallet-to-wallet stablecoin transfer for the millions of people who use the Opera Mini browser.
- MiniPay’s spinoff as a standalone app now widens its reach and allows more people who do not use the Opera Mini browser to get access to the MiniPay wallet.
